My Story

Wellness is multi-dimensional—and so are you. For those stepping into the season beyond 50, life is not about slowing down into retirement, but awakening into refirement: a renewed purpose, deeper balance, and fresh vitality.

True wholeness comes when every area of life—spirit, soul, and body—is brought into alignment with God’s design, just as Jesus promised in John 10:10 (Mirror Bible):

“I have come with the sole purpose for you to have life in its most complete form.”

The 7 Building Blocks of Wellness—spirit, soul, body, social, occupation, finances and recreation —form the framework through which we can step into this life “in its most complete form” – a life of abundance. When each block is aligned with God’s design, we experience harmony, strength, and renewal.

Living Well - Living Whole with Leonie Du Rand
Meet Leonie Du Rand

I am passionate about guiding “sons” of God, especially those 50 and beyond, into whole-life wellness—spirit, soul, and body. This season of life is not about retirement, but about refirement: stepping into renewed purpose, balance, and fullness as every dimension of life aligns with God’s design.

We are more than “Christians”—Scripture reminds us that we are the sons of God, called to reveal His glory on earth:

“For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:26 NKJV

“For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.” – Romans 8:19 NKJV

My journey in health, wellness, and fitness began in 1986 when I joined a gym for the first time. Weight training quickly became a passion, eventually leading me into the fitness industry as a part-time instructor. Like a hairdresser’s chair, the gym is a place where people often open their hearts—and that drew out the counselor/coach in me.

Alongside fitness studies, I pursued a two-year Christian counseling diploma, later expanding into Christian coaching and Neuro-coaching.

In 2008, I launched a women’s fitness centre, and it was there that I first encountered the transformative power of natural health and nutrition.

What began as a passion for physical fitness soon grew into a deeper awareness of how wellness touches every dimension of life—spirit, soul, and body. That season planted the seeds for my calling today: guiding others, especially those 50 and beyond, into whole-life wellness in Christ.

It showed me that true vitality is not just about exercise, but about living in alignment with God’s design and stepping into renewed purpose—what I now call refirement instead of retirement.

My counseling background helped me explore the spirit-soul-body connection, especially how trauma and various forms of abuse can impact the body at a cellular level.

A few years later the Lord directed me to sell the fitness centre, I then began working in the occupational health industry. What seemed like a change in direction was, in truth, a continuation of His calling—broadening my understanding of wellness beyond exercise and nutrition to include workplace health.

This season deepened my awareness that true wellness is not confined to the gym or the kitchen, but touches every environment where people live and work. It became another layer in the journey of guiding others into whole-life wellness—spirit, soul, and body—in Christ.

It was a very fast-paced environment that eventually led to burnout, which became a turning point for me. Through my search for recovery, I gained new insight into trauma, overwhelm, and the spirit-soul-body connection—ultimately leading me into Neuro-coaching.

Through these seasons, the Lord revealed that health can be pursued on three levels: medical care, natural health, and—His ultimate and first choice for us—Divine health.

While the ‘mind-body connection’ is often emphasised, that is only one piece of a much larger picture—because we are triune beings. As 1 Thessalonians 5:23 (NKJV) says: ‘Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.’”

In the 1990s, after the Lord healed me of a compulsive eating disorder, I wrote my counseling diploma script, Emotional Healing: The Alternative to Dieting. That journey opened my eyes to the power of the weight loss industry and its harmful quick-fix products.

I came to believe that true health is not about chasing weight loss—it’s about restoring balance. When our lives are in sync, a healthy weight follows naturally, and that is where the 7 building blocks of wellness come into play.

Through all of this, writing became another passion. Today, my passion is to empower women 50 and beyond to embrace refirement—a season of renewed purpose and whole-life wellness in Christ—by weaving together faith, coaching, and creative resources that restore balance to spirit, soul, and body.

“Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit.” – 3 John 1:2 NLT
